Reception Writing Record (adapted for Braille user)

 

Working towards the Early Learning Goals

v I experiment with mark making by randomly pressing keys on the brailler

v I write from left to right

v I use Braille symbols when I write

v I can read back what I have written (no understanding of permanence)

v I use writing in role play

 

 

Working within the Early Learning Goals

v I can write my name in braille

v I can use Braille letters in writing( no sound symbol relationship

v When I write braille I can use initial phonemes

-with help

-on my own

v I can Braille dominant phonemes in words

-with help

-on my own

v I can write simple regular words and attempt more complex words using my phonic knowledge.

v I can write a sentence( writing needs interpretation)

v I can write a sentence ( writing does not need interpretation)

v Sometimes I use punctuation

-leave spaces between words

-use the capital sign at the beginning of a sentence

-use full stops

v I can use the correct fingers on the brailler

v I can form most Braille letters correctly

v I attempt writing for various purposes

 

 

Working beyond the Early Learning Goals

v I read my work back to check for meaning

v I understand and use basic story structure in my writing.

v I can write a story from my imagination

v I can spell 45 keywords

v All of my letters are brailled correctly

v I use interesting words

v I use punctuation more consistently in my writing
