How can we teach Higher Order Reading skills such as skimming and scanning to Braillists? How can they learn the skills they need to research information and interrogate non-fiction books? How can they begin to access information on the World Wide Web? What about comprehension and how can we help to develop their ability to infer and deduce information from texts? How can we help them to distinguish fact from opinion?
A forthcoming book by Pam Lorrimer with contributions from Julliet Stone, Alison Arnold and Peter Lumley will contain details of research in this area and suggestions of how to develop these Higher Order Reading and Research Skills in Braillists.
