A child beginning to learn Braille needs access to a wide range of stimulating reading materails to help them to:

learn the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they represent;
blend these sounds together and decode some simple words.

These resources may provide some ideas of how you can make early Braille reading more interesting to a young learner.

'Braille for Infants' and 'Feeling Ready to Read' are two reading schemes published by the RNIB for children beginning to learn Braille.

 

 

'Clear Vision' is a UK postal lending library of mainstream children's books with added Braille. Their books have Braille, print and pictures, making them suitable for visually-impaired and sighted children and adults to share.
